8th Grade NY & DC Trip
Each year Altimira offers 8th grade students an opportunity to spend five days and five nights in Washington, D.C. and New York. Students experience first-hand the rich history of our nation by touring the world’s most powerful cities. This experience challenges students to role-play life from the perspective of our founding fathers to the legislators and judges who write and interpret the laws of the land today. From Capitol Hill to Ellis Island, students are introduced to the sacrifices and heritage of our great nation. Touring important national treasures such as Arlington National Cemetery, the Statue of Liberty, and the Vietnam, Korean, and Iwo Jima Memorials further reinforces the themes of patriotism and sacrifice. Students gain a deeper understanding of our history, the consequences of choices and their role in shaping America’s destiny. Trips to Wall Street, watching a Broadway Show and shopping on 5th Avenue round out the experience. This trip is an opportunity every American should experience!
