Summary: I have been teaching at Altimira since 1989/1990, when the district first moved sixth grade to the middle school. Generally, I try to teach math and science cores, because the subjects support each other so well; math provides tools for science and science provides a context for math. Two things I particularly enjoy about sharing math and science with students are their applicability to everyday life and the logical, rational, problem-solving approach they offer to challenges we face in everyday life.
Outside of school, I enjoy outdoor activities including mountain biking, kayaking, skiing and hiking/mountaineering. I have traveled with my family to Italy, Panama, Cuba, and, most recently to the island of Hawaii. Last year was the first year in 16 that I have not coached girls recreational soccer.
