                 Where education can lead!                   
Sand Tufa at Mono Lake.  Each year we take 35 stuents to Mono Lake for a week of camping, environmental education and adventure.  This year's trip will take place May 17-22, and will be open to sixth and seventh graders who complete a community service project selected from the three offered this spring.

I have been teaching at Altimira since 1989/1990, when the district first moved sixth grade to the middle school. Generally, I try to teach math and science cores, because the subjects support each other so well; math provides tools for science and science provides a context for math. Two things I particularly enjoy about sharing math and science with students are their applicability to everyday life and the logical, rational, problem-solving approach they offer to challenges we face in everyday life. Outside of school, I enjoy outdoor activities including mountain biking, kayaking, skiing and hiking/mountaineering. I have traveled with my family to Italy, Panama, Cuba, and, most recently to the island of Hawaii. Last year was the first year in 16 that I have not coached girls recreational soccer. » read more...

You should expect to have at least one half hour of homework in each class every school day. Math will definitely have a new homework assignment each day and usually a test or quiz each Friday. Science usually has two days per assignment, or project homework time as needed. Use your planners to keep things organized! » read more...
