Assignment: Create a Tour in Google Earth
For this assignment you, or you and a partner, are to create a tour in Google Earth. What are some ideas for touring? Check these out:
- Places You Have Been & Places You Want to Go
- Immigration Story of Your Family
- Major League Baseball Stadiums (Or, Soccer, Football, etc.)
- Tour the locations of a favorite novel (It would have to be one that involved lots of different settings.)
- Visit the 7 Wonders of the World! (There are more than 7...check this out.)
- Tour the stars, outer space, etc.
- Popular landmarks in our country or others
- Trace the travels of Lewis and Clark...or how about the Donner Party?
- Tour the Mayan ruins...the Pyramids...or...?
- Volcanoes
- Create your own idea for a tour...just check in with me.
How to get started:
- After you have chosen which tour you will create, list the exact locations where you will travel.
- You are required to create at least six placemarks for your tour.
- Write a script for your tour so that you can read it while recording. No, "umm...like, dude," etc., is acceptable.
- You will need to embed a photo in each of your placemarks. (You will probably want to use Photoshop; be sure to save your pics as jpgs in your Google Earth Tour folder.)
- You will need to paste/embed text in each of your placemarks.
- Watch the video below. It takes you through the two major parts of creating a tour.
- 1.Part 1: Making the Placemarks
- 2. Part 2:Recording and saving the Tour
- How to Embed Your Pics Into Your Google Earth Tour
- And...How to Embed HTML
Important notes:
- The first thing to do in Google Earth is to make a folder - label it with your name.
- Before beginning your tour, make sure the preferences in Google Earth Touring are set properly. Check in with me.
